Chair complete
So last night I spent around 7-8 hours stuck in the art and design building completing my final chair. 2 things I've learned. 1. Staring at the cardboard in defeat will not summon it to your will, and 2. I would rather rip my eyeballs out with forks than build another chair out of cardboard. I probably seem dramatic, but at least now we can go to something I'm good at. Drawing, bliss! Here are pictures...

how to build a chair 101
So last tuesday we had an essay due in BDS (design) that was on duality. Basically, about your relationship with another person. I wrote an entire paper on my dad, explaining about how he is my rock, my support system, and my closest friend. I used words in my essay like Perfect, flawless, supportive, and my professor explained to us that we had to build our chair based off of the the words you used in your essay about your relationship. So I just started modeling a base to give my chair a little extra support. Though its not the best model I made, its a start to finding ideas for my final project due THIS TUESDAY! pictures below...
Below are Coconut cupcakes with Green Tea frosting. I saw these at Succotash, my absolute favorite breakfast diner in the world, and about died. They are amazing, if you haven't been to Succotash in Downtown Kansas City yet you have got to go. I guarantee you will never want to leave, the atmosphere is so rad.
Happy Thursday!

three cheers for v-day
What a fun holiday. Though I celebrated on Saturday since this coming week was going to be packed with papers, tests, and volleyball practices, I still love to watch people receive flowers, and gifts from loved ones. Today instead of working on our chair in design we were asked to experiment with our use of color while creating valentines. I found this a bit fun and crafty, and got really into making some valentines. take a peek!
Happy Valentines Day!

lets make the impossible happen
So my next design project, build a chair. The guild lines? must use a 4x4 foot piece of cardboard. Can't cut, staple, or tape, and must fold back out to be a 4x4 cardboard square again. This I found EXTREMELY difficult. I just finished making my model except its having a little trouble staying up but other than that it actually looks like a chair. Take a look!
ahh don't mind my messy room!

Hello winter? are you there?
aww I love rain! It makes the KU campus so pretty. The downside, with me liking to walk to class, I'm getting wet, but at least it gives me a chance to finally wear my rain boots (total white girl problem). Well yesterday I turned in my Design project, and I actually got some pretty good feed back on it. Gnerally people really liked it (or so they made it seem). But with the end of a project comes the start of a new one. This time I have to make a chair, pretty cool huh? but here's the catch, I have to make it completely out of a 4x4 foot piece of cardboard, without cutting only bending, and slitting. OH! and we have to make it fold back into a 4x4 piece of cardboard.... ummm how? i have until wednesday to figure that one out but until then...
I've decided the word needs to come out about this place. It's called succotash. The BEST breakfast I have ever had, also a big plus for me was the awesome interior. With me being an interior design major I totally take things like this into consideration when ever I'm eating somewhere. It was indie to the max! OBSESSED! I mean look at it? pretty cool huh? If you live around the Kansas City area, this is a must for you to try out,and I promise you won't be disappointed!
Happy Friday,
xoxo Emma

Look who's back.. uh oh
I'm back! Sorry for the 2 month gap of no new post. With the end of the semester school projects, and finals it was really hard to find time to write a GOOD post. Well to update you on whats been going on, it's my second semester of college, and so far I'm loving it. We just finished our first project in design. We had to find a location, or use a model to photograph and make a photo collage of it. I highly enjoyed this. It got to bring out the little bit of photographer in me. I had 4 test collages and 1 huge 100 picture collage that I am very proud of. Take a look...
and for the final collage... Bam!
