Day 2: The prototype

The Group! They are so great!

When you mix a photo media major, Graphic design major, and an interior design major you get a not so professional prototype. This is us attempting to put together what we wanted to design. At the end we made it plausible. So here is some eye candy for you to breeze over..

Our Plan to Make Billions... or just get an A

So after a hectic weekend of staying up late so finish my processed notebook containing 125 drawings of sunglasses, it was nice to have a day in between classes where I could just lay in bed, sleep, and best of all  eat. Today we are back in action in Design 101. Our next task: Find an object that was poorly made and then remodel it to make it better. This should be and interesting project that I hope to keep you all updated on. Here are some pictures from our day.

In the end we choose to recreate a nail polish bottle. Don't get bored yet. I can't wait to show you all what we have in store for you.

With fall comes cardigans, and i have a thing for cardigans. I've also recently have had a slight obsession with funky rings and yellow nail polish. Bring on the fall

70's Revival

Think Bianca Jagger

70's Day Fashion
  • High waisted wide-leg pants or flares, smartly belted in.
  • Neat bow-blouses, especially ones with billowing or bishop sleeves. Particularly great are fabrics like silk and satin.
  • Roll neck sweaters tucked into pants or skirts. Add to the ’70s effect by layering over beaded necklaces or a vest.
  • For those more daring, a pair of hot pants are the ultimate ’70s item.
  • A smart printed jumpsuit is another great alternative.

70's Night Glamour

  • Choose high sheen fabrics with a ’70s disco-inspired edge, like lurex or silk; anything with a metallic thread.
  • Add a ruffled neckline under a brocade blazer or tuxedo jacket, paired with a sharp pair of pants.
  • Long, slinky gowns with draping, low necklines or dress slits are the ultimate in ’70s night time glamour.

70's Accessories
  • The right handbag completes a look. Try for smart, high quality bags like a leather satchel for day, and a small bag with a long strap for night.
  • Big, statement leather belts slung over mini skirts or maxi dresses add impact and fair to a seventies-inspired outfit.
  • A pair of on-trend thigh high boots are probably already be in your wardrobe by now – pair them with hot pants or a skirt for a decidedly sexed-up yet sophisticated ’70s look.
  • Wear lots of jewellery – but keep it a little cleaner than for a boho look. Try lots of rings with bold stones, neat piles of bangles, and long pendant necklaces and strings of beads.
  • Look to complimentary hairstyles like a sleek longer bob, masses of bouncy curls, or long, flowing hair.

What is good design?

My first project at Kansas University! so excited! Well basically we had to pick an object which we find is "Good Design." After careful consideration I went straight to the thing I used most. My sunglasses. Here are some drawings to start off with my explanation on why I find sunglasses to be a good design.

and just because mac books are so fun!...

Sunglasses, their basic purpose is to protect our eyes from bright sunlight, and high energy visible light. They are a good design because they are something light and portable that sits perfectly on our noses and is held in place by our ears. The lens's are big enough to cover our eyes from light all around us. The shading on the lens also helps us to see clearly through them. There are many different designs of sunglasses. They come in many different shapes as a fashion trend, without taking away the purpose of the protective part of the design.

In respect of fashion week!

are you ready? well it's here whether your ready or not! I'm so excited! I love to see whats new and fresh in the world! unfortunately with school I can't keep up as much as I would like to with it, but no fear! I will post some of my favorite outfits from the wonderful fashion capitals of paris, milan, los angeles, new york and london! but in respect of fashion week I think we should all remember the people who make fashion so vital and awesome. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the 5 fashion icons everyone should know.

1. Audrey Hepburn
Audrey's style out of the big screen was so effortless. She knew how to make an outfit so plain into something so delicate and chic.Audrey's favourite casual style was a pair of skinny pants, a turtle neck and some flat shoes - all in black. She wore this combination often as she went to and from the studios.

Audrey Style essentials: A white shirt, A pair of flats, a little black dress, a long scarf, and a fitted suit

2. Kate Moss

Kate has her fair share or sporting different types of shoes. Heels, boots, flats, what ever it is she knows how to pair a nice pair of shoes with a great outfit. This is probably the reason why she got Best Dressed Woman of the Decade, and has recently landed the cover of Vogue Magazine. She still finds time for business ventures like her Topshop line and recording an album. (The latter is perhaps a rumor.)

Kate Moss's 10 fashion rules

1.Do Denim Edgily

2. Make it look effortless

3. Go for Quality
4. Be a dress code rebel
5. Keep Prints timeless

6. Wear it tight to the torso
7. Go for authenticity
8. Focus on clothes
9. Mix and mismatch

10. When in doubt buy diamonds

3. Sarah Jessica Parker/ Carrie Bradshaw

Anyone who disagree's doesn't know fashion. Bradshaw was the fashion of the early 21st century. Sarah Jessica Parker is the fashion of the now.
Carrie Bradshaw. This picture is my absolute favorite! why? because when you look at her outfit its just a tank top with a pair of pants. What makes this outfit so elegant is her accessories. The pearls! how could you not love the pearls?

4. Rachael Bilson
You may find this random but I find her stunning. I have never seen Rachael in a outfit less then perfect. Why? because she knows her accessories.

5. Emma Watson

Besides the fact that she is a full time college student, she also did work in Harry Potter as the intelligently beautiful Hermione Granger, and is currently working on her own fashion line. I decided to save the best for last.

Happy Fashion week 2011!
